Community guidelines
In short
- Comment as if you were in class: be respectful, stay on topic, no spam.
- Nothing illegal, no hate, no harassment, no other people's personal data and no content that isn't yours.
- If you see something that shouldn't be there, tap “Report” or use the form below. A person reviews it.
- If we remove something of yours, we'll tell you why and you can challenge it.
This summary helps you find your way around; it doesn't replace the full text.
1. Where these rules apply
To everything users post for others to see: comments on the blog and on portal news, votes and likes, and the reviews, events, jobs and communities submitted to the croatiapp.app portal. Private content (your notes, notebooks, chats) isn't moderated, but it can't be used for anything illegal either.
2. What isn't allowed
- Illegal content under EU or Croatian law: incitement to hatred or violence, threats, glorification of terrorism, child sexual abuse material, defamation, scams, sale of illegal products.
- Harassment and personal attacks, including against the Profesorica, our team or other learners.
- Other people's personal data (phone numbers, addresses, photos) without their permission.
- Content that isn't yours without permission: copyright-protected texts, photos or videos.
- Spam and unsolicited advertising, misleading links, chain messages, repeated self-promotion.
- Impersonating another person or Croatiapp.
- Sexually explicit or violent content.
- Fake or automated accounts used to comment or vote.
3. How we moderate
- Comments go live straight away, and we review them when someone reports them or when we come across them.
- Reviews, events, jobs and communities on the portal are published only after a person has reviewed them.
- We don't use automated systems that decide to remove content: a person always makes the call. Comments are machine-translated into the site's other languages, and the translation may contain mistakes.
- What we can do: hide or delete the content, limit who can see it, stop the account from posting for a while or, if it's serious or keeps happening, suspend or close the account.
- We act proportionately: we take into account how serious it is, whether it was intentional, whether it's repeated, and everyone's rights (including freedom of expression).
4. Report content
Anyone, with or without an account, can tell us about content they believe is illegal or breaks these guidelines (art. 16 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065, the Digital Services Act): with the “Report” button on each comment or with this form. So that we can act, tell us where it is (the link), why you believe it's illegal or breaks the guidelines, and your name and email (unless it concerns child sexual abuse material, which you can report anonymously).
We'll confirm we've received your notice, a person will review it without undue delay and we'll tell you what we decided. If the content puts someone's life or safety at risk, we notify the authorities (art. 18 DSA).
5. If we take action on your content
We'll email you a statement of reasons (art. 17 DSA): what we did and from when, the facts behind it, whether it followed a notice from someone else, whether we consider the content illegal (and under which law) or contrary to these guidelines (and which one), and how you can challenge the decision.
6. How to challenge a decision
Reply to the decision email or write to legal@croatiapp.app within 6 months. Where possible, someone who wasn't involved in the original decision reviews it, and we'll get back to you. If we were right, we'll explain why; if not, we'll reverse it. You can also go to court or lodge a complaint with Croatia's Digital Services Coordinator, Hrvatska regulatorna agencija za mrežne djelatnosti (HAKOM) (www.hakom.hr).
7. Points of contact
For authorities and users (arts. 11 and 12 DSA): legal@croatiapp.app, in Croatian, English or Spanish.
